These My Little Pony Coloring Pages are based on the cartoon series featuring the cute, colorful ponies. The cartoons themselves are based on pony toys for girls.
In the original My Little Pony and Friends Series, the ponies were like horses and communicated with two children through telepathy, acting as "secret friends". In the next My Little Pony Tales Series, the ponies were the main characters and were shown as anthropomorphic. That means they were shown to behave like humans. The most recent series, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, has become very popular with fans who call themselves "bronies". The ponies live in a magical place called Ponyville. The ponies share adventures and help out other residents of Ponyville, while working out the troublesome moments in their own friendships. There are many video games and movies created with the My Little Pony theme.

- Rarity: A unicorn pony, white in color, with a purple mane.She is the older sister of Sweetie Belle. Rarity works as a fashion designer at her own shop, Carousel Boutique. She has a pet cat named Opalescence. She represents the element of generosity.
- Apple Bloom: An Earth Pony, younger sister of Big Macintosh and Applejack. She is one of the Cutie Mark Crusaders trio, along with Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo.
- Scootaloo: A pegasus pony and a huge fan of Rainbow Dash. one of the Cutie Mark Crusaders .
- Sweetie Belle: A unicorn pony, younger sister of Rarity and one of the Cutie Mark Crusaders .
- Princess Celestia: A pegasus unicorn and co-ruler of Equestria with her sister Princess Luna. She is the mentor of Twilight Sparkle.
- Princess Luna: A pegasus unicorn and younger sister of Princess Celestia. Formerly NightMare Moon, she gets transformed back through the magic of the Elements of Harmony.
- Cheerilee: A pegasus pony and elder sister of Scootaloo. She is a schoolteacher in Ponyville .
- Mrs. Cup Cake: The owner of Sugarcube Corner along with her husband, Mr Carrot Cake. They are parents of twins, Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake.
There are many other characters in the series, such as the Apple Family, the school age ponies, celebrities and wonderbolts.
There are pets such as Angel the bunny rabbit, Winona the dog , Opalescence the cat, Gummy the baby alligator, Philomeena the phoenix, Owloysius the owl and Tank the tortoise; and wildlife including Cockatrice with the head of a chicken and a body of a snake, Dragon , Hydra, Manticore with the body of a lion, a scorpion's tail, and a pair of wings, Parasprite a locust-like creature, Quarray eel, Sea serpent and Ursa - gigantic magical bears.
